Keep video notes together with PDF exports
Turn selected frames and your explanations into a document you can review after closing the video.
An exported study document should explain why you kept a moment, not simply prove that you watched a video. Clip Insights combines saved notes and screenshots into a PDF you can keep outside the browser.
This article was first published in 2024 and has been revised to clarify current export and storage behavior.
Prepare the material
Capture a meaningful frame, add an explanation in your own words and keep its timestamp. Before export, remove accidental duplicates and make unresolved questions recognizable as questions.
A useful note might explain why a code change fixes a problem. A screenshot of the final code alone may not preserve that reasoning.
Download and check
Select Download in the extension. Open the generated PDF and inspect its notes and images. Keep it with the course or project where you will need it, using a filename that identifies the topic.
A PDF is a snapshot of your saved material at export time. Later edits in the extension do not update an earlier downloaded document. Export again when you need a revised copy.
Upload is a separate choice
When signed in, select Upload to send a generated PDF to your account. File-size and account-storage limits apply. You can manage uploaded files in the web app.
Local notes do not automatically synchronize. Keep a downloaded copy before clearing browser data or removing the extension, even if you have used the web app before.
Share with context
Preserve the source video information. Respect the creator's rights and course policies before distributing frames or quotations, and check the document for private information.
