Introducing Clip Insights

A YouTube study companion for timestamped notes, video screenshots, AI insights and PDF exports.

Watching a useful video is the beginning of a study session. Keeping the explanation in a form you can revisit is another task. Clip Insights brings the note-taking work beside the YouTube player.

This article was first published in 2024 and has been revised to describe the current product.

Keep the moment and your explanation

Capture the current video frame with Snapshot, then add your own note. A timestamp connects the material to the original explanation. The frame preserves the visual context; the note preserves what you understood or still need to investigate.

Instead of a folder of disconnected images, you have a timeline for the video. You can revisit an explanation when your own attempt reveals a gap.

Use AI as a study aid

Signed-in users can request transcript-based summaries, key points and video chat, within account quotas. These tools use the available video transcript. They can be incomplete or incorrect, particularly when the important detail appears only on screen.

Use the overview to identify a question, then check the source. A fluent response is not proof that you understood the lesson or that every claim is correct.

Take your material with you

Download generates a PDF of your saved material. Signed-in users can also upload an exported PDF to the web library, within storage limits.

Local notes and screenshots stay in your browser. Uploading a PDF is an explicit action and does not synchronize the full editable timeline. Keep a downloaded copy before clearing browser data.

Try one short session

Start with one video and one question. Capture a meaningful frame, explain the connection in your own words and export a PDF. The goal is useful study material, not the largest possible collection of screenshots.
